Group Chat in Hangouts Meet

Google Hangouts Meet has a Group Chat feature that can be launched stand-alone from the Hangouts Meet homepage or via the built-in sidebar during video conversations.  During a video call this feature is most often used to collect questions, share Google Drive document links, or easily share other text-based information.  To access Group Chat during a video call:

1. Click on the Chat icon in the top right corner of the video call window.
2. The Group Chat sidebar will open on the right side of the Hangouts Meet window.
3. Uses the text entry box at the bottom of the Chat sidebar to enter your desired text and links or attach docs and photos via the Google Drive link. 
4. Press Enter to submit text.
5. Comments and responses from you and other users on the video call will collect at the top of the Chat window in real time.
6. To hide Group Chat, click the main video window.
