Duo Mobile

LITS supports the use of Duo Mobile app for Android and iOS for added multi-factor security for connecting to campus servers via remote desktop. Duo allows users to authenticate logins via Push, Passcode, or SMS code.

Only users who are authorized to use campus servers are able to use their Beloit Duo Mobile account to connect to a server. If you are a new user that needs access to a server, please contact LITS Support to request access and a Duo Mobile account.

Login with Push

Duo can generate a Push approval for login authentication. This is the default option when using Duo Mobile and it is the one that LITS recommends.

  1. Using Remote Desktop on Mac or Windows to connect open a connection to the server

    • If you are off campus, you will need to use the Beloit VPN to connect to campus services first.

  2. Login to the server connection using your Beloit account credentials.

  3. Once your Beloit credentials are accepted, Duo will send a push notification through the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone.

  4. When prompted choose Approve from the Duo Mobile app to log in.

Duo also gives users the option of denying a login if they do not recognize the attempt.

Login with Passcode

Duo can generate a Passcode for login authentication.

  4. When prompted use the six-digit Passcode from the Duo Mobile app to log in.
