Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is an app that Google uses to allow two-factor authentication for their services, without using a phone, so that Beloit users who are overseas are able to protect their accounts.

IT recommendations before going over seas.
Google often requires verification for logging into your college Google account.  Before you go overseas, you should consider the following options:
1. Register a cell phone or external email addresses that will work overseas.  If you do not have a phone that will work over-seas, you can consider an external email address which presumes you have access to the Internet for that account.
2. An alternative option is to set up 2-factor authentication.  This will replace the standard verification process with a 2 factor verification process.  You can install "Google Authenticator" as an app on your phone.  The phone does not need to access the network or have cellular coverage.  The app simply works on an algorithm to give you a code that will verify access into your account.
