Group Chat in Hangouts Meet
Google Hangouts Meet has a Group Chat feature that can be launched stand-alone from the Hangouts Meet homepage or via the built-in sidebar during video conversations. During a video call this feature is most often used to collect questions, share Google Drive document links, or easily share other text-based information. To access Group Chat during a video call:
- Click on the
Chat icon in the top right corner of the video call window. - The Group Chat sidebar will open on the right side of the Hangouts Meet window.
- Uses the text entry box at the bottom of the Chat sidebar to enter your desired text and links or attach docs and photos via the Google Drive link.
- Press Enter to submit text.
- Comments and responses from you and other users on the video call will collect at the top of the Chat window in real time.
- To hide Group Chat, click the main video window.
