Remote Support and Screen Sharing
In order to better support campus faculty and staff, LITS can provide support via Zoom with remote screen sharing.
Initiating Support
To request support, please submit a SchoolDude ticket as normal. LITS will respond and attempt to resolve issues without utilizing remote support if possible, but when required will schedule a date and time to meet virtually. This can include phone calls and/or a conference with Zoom.
To join a remote support request, follow the link provided by LITS to join the Zoom conference. A Zoom account is not required in order to join a remote session.
Join the Zoom meeting via the link that was shared with you
At the bottom of the Zoom meeting window, click the green Share Screen button
When prompted which window to share, choose your computer desktop (usually the first option) and click the blue Share button at the bottom right corner of the window
A green outline around your screen indicates that everything inside of the outline is shared and visible to all participants of the meeting
To grant remote control access, click the Remote Control button at the top of the screen and choose the support attendee you would like to give remote access to
The person remotely controlling your computer will be able to use your mouse and keyboard as if they were sitting at your computer. They can only see and access that which you see on your screen
You can revoke remote access at any time by:
Ending the meeting
Clicking the red Stop Share button at the top of the screen
Clicking the green Remote Controlled button at the top of the screen and choosing Abort Control
Closing the Zoom app (Command + Q on Mac, Alt + F4 on Windows)
Closing your laptop’s lid, putting the computer to sleep, or shutting down the computer
