Personal Adobe ID

Overview

Individual faculty or staff who have a need to use Adobe products on their college-owned or personal devices may be assigned a Personal Adobe ID. A Personal Adobe ID is an individual Adobe account registered using your Beloit College email address. This Adobe ID will allow you to install the full Creative Cloud suite on your own devices, as well as log in to Adobe Creative Cloud on public lab computers that have Adobe products installed. See the top of the Company or School Adobe ID page for a list of labs that offer the Creative Cloud suite.

Adobe's licensing allows for Personal Adobe ID users to install Creative Cloud on as many computers as they would like, with the restriction that they can only be logged into a maximum of two devices at any given time. Logging into more than two devices will sign out a previously signed in device to enforce this rule.

Obtaining a Personal Adobe ID

Beloit College faculty and staff who have a need to install and use Adobe Creative Cloud products on their own individual devices should contact LITS Support for more information on requesting individual access with an Adobe ID.

If individual access isn't required, all active Beloit College faculty, students, and staff are automatically provisioned a Company or School Adobe ID upon enrollment or employment with the college which grants access to Creative Cloud where available in public labs. See Company or School Adobe IDs for more information.

Installing Adobe Creative Cloud

Personal Adobe ID users will receive an email from Adobe (notifications@adobe.com) with the subject "Get started with Creative Cloud All Apps" when a license is granted. To activate your account and download Creative Cloud:

  1. Click on the Get Started link in the "Access is granted" email to verify your name and set a password for your Adobe ID. Your password does not have to be the same as your Beloit College username password, but making them the same can be easier to remember.

  2. You must remove all previously installed Adobe products prior to installing the Creative Cloud apps. Please contact LITS support for assistance removing any previously installed Adobe products to ensure there are no issues with installation.

  3. Browse to Adobe's support site and follow the instructions to download and install the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  4. Optionally, contact LITS support for assistance installing the Creative Cloud software.

Logging In to Creative Cloud

On any of the designated lab computers listed at the top of this page, or on any devices you have installed Creative Cloud on, you can access the Adobe Creative Cloud suite with the following steps:

  1. Log into a computer where Creative Cloud is installed.

  2. Depending on your OS:

    1. On a Mac: Choose an Adobe application from the dock at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, use Finder to browse the Applications folder and double-click on the Adobe app you wish to use.

    2. On a PC: Click Start and type in the name of the app you wish to use, or browse the Start Menu to find the app you are looking for.

  3. When prompted, enter your Beloit email address and click Continue.

  4. If prompted to choose “Company or School Account” or “Personal Account”, choose Personal Account.

  5. Sign in with your Adobe ID password. Remember that this password may be different than your Beloit College account password.

  6. Select Beloit College.

You must select Personal Account when signing in. Signing in with a “Company or School Account” will display an error message stating that your account is not valid or you will not see any available apps. If this happens, sign out of Creative Cloud by clicking the blue profile icon at the top right corner of the Creative Cloud desktop app, and sign in again but be sure to choose Personal Account.

If you have trouble logging into an Adobe product, please see Troubleshooting Login Issues.

Logging Out of Creative Cloud

Adobe ID users do not need to log out of Creative Cloud on personal devices, but should log out of the service when using Creative Cloud on a public lab computer. When you are finished using an Adobe product on a lab computer, you can simply log out of the computer in order to sign out of Creative Cloud. Optionally, you can manually log out with the following steps:

  1. Click on the Creative Cloud desktop app icon in the system tray to open the Creative Cloud app, or open the app from the Applications folder or Start menu.

  2. Click the light blue Profile icon at the upper-right corner of the window.

  3. Choose Sign Out from the popup menu.

If you have problems logging into an Adobe product, please see Troubleshooting Login Issues or contact LITS Support.
