Overview

Beloit College uses the Mitel NuPoint voicemail system for campus voice messaging.  This article outlines basic information for accessing voicemail, setting up and changing passwords, and managing messages and greetings.

Initial Setup of Voicemail

Follow the steps given below to setup voicemail. 

From Your Extension

1. Lift Receiver

2. Press the Voicemail icon (or Dial 1800)

3. Enter Your PASSCODE. When entering voicemail the first time, the passcode is 1234.

4. After entering the default passcode, the tutorial will play to guide you through setting up your mailbox  

From Outside Phone 

1. Dial Company Main Number When the AA greeting plays Press * * -

2. Enter your mailbox number Press * --Enter your passcode when prompted

3.  When entering Voice Mail the first time, the passcode is 1234.

4. After entering the default passcode, the tutorial will play to guide you through setting up your mailbox using voice mail tutorial after entering the default passcode (1234), the tutorial will play to guide you through these steps to set up your mailbox:

A. Create New Passcode (4-10 digits)

B. Record Greeting 

Logging On/Off

1. From a campus phone, dial extension 7000.

   1. When dialing from your desk phone, you can  also press the "Message" key.

   1. From an off-campus phone, dial 608-363-7000.

2. Dial your mailbox number, followed by the # key.

   1. Your mailbox number is the same as your campus phone extension number.

3. Dial your password, followed by the # key.

4. When finished with voicemail, dial 83 to log off, or just hang up.

Set Passcode/PIN

• Your initial voicemail login password is 0 followed by your extension number.

  • Example: 02235 for extension 2235.

• You will be prompted to change the password when you first log in to the voicemail.

• Passwords must be at least 4 digits and cannot be the same as the extension number.

• The system also limits some passwords that are too simple: ie 1234.

• If you forget your voicemail password, please Report a Problem.

Change Passcode/PIN

1. Log on to voicemail.

2. Press 84 to access the Password menu.

3. Enter your current password, followed by the # key.

4. Enter your new password, followed by the # key

5. Enter your new password again, followed by the # key to confirm.

6. Dial 83 to log off.

Managing Messages

1. Log on to voicemail.

2. Press 2 to review your messages.

3. Message management commands:

   • Press 2 to repeat the message.

   • Press 9 to repeat caller information.

   • Press 76 to delete a message.

   • Press 73 to forward the message to another campus extension.

   • Press 6 to proceed to the next message.

   • Press 4 to return to the previous message.

4. When you are finished managing messages, press 83 to log off.

Record a Greeting

1. Log on to voicemail.

2. Press 82 to enter the Greeting menu.

3. Greeting menu options:

   • Press 1 to record an external greeting.

   • Press 2 to record an internal greeting.

   • Press 3 to record a vacation message (temporary greeting).

   • Press 9 to record your name (personal verification).

4. Greeting recording/playback commands:

   • Press 5 to start recording your greeting.

   • Press # to stop and save the recorded greeting.

   • Press 2 to listen to the recording.

   • Press 76 to delete the greeting and start over.

   • Repeat this process loop until you are happy with the greeting...or until you give up.

5. Press 83 to keep the new greeting and log off.
