Overview

Google Hangouts Meet is the audio and video conferencing, chat, desktop screen-sharing and collaborative communication application included with G Suite for Education.  Hangouts Meet works from any web browser, so is compatible with MacOS, Windows, ChromeOS and Linux.  There is also a Hangouts mobile app for both iOS and Android that will allow you to connect to a Google Hangouts Meet video call on supported mobile devices.

Hangouts Meet currently supports group video calls of up to 100 people if you are using your Beloit account to initiate the call, or up to 50 when initiating a call using a personal Gmail account.

Beloit documentation on Hangouts Meet is below.  Google also maintains extensive documentation and training materials on Hangouts Meet in their Hangouts Meet Help Center.

Note

In response to the spread of COVID-19, Google has temporarily increased support for video calls to 250 users.  This increase is temporary and will be discontinued on July 1, 2020, after which the supported user account will be reduced to the normal level of 100 users. For more details, visit the Google Hangouts Meet announcement on the temporary increase.
