Google Hangouts Meet has a Group Chat feature that can be launched stand-alone from the Hangouts Meet homepage or via the built-in to facilitate sidebar conversations, during video conversations. During a video call this feature is most often used to collect questions, share Google Drive document links, or easily share other text-based information. To access Group Chat :
during a video call:
- Click on the
Chat icon at in the top right corner of the sidebarvideo call window. - The Group Chat sidebar will open on the right side of the Hangouts Meet window.
- Type in Uses the text field entry box at the bottom of the Chat windowsidebar to enter your desired text and links or attach docs and photos via the Google Drive link.
- Press Enter to submit text.
- Comments and responses from you and other users on the video call will collect at the top of the Chat window in real time.
- To close hide Group Chat, click the X in the upper right corner of the Chat main video window.
