Overview


Both Canon and Lexmark printer/copiers on campus support duplexing (double-sided printing) in order to reduce the number of pages needed to print multi-page documents. Duplexing when printing and copying is enabled by default, however this setting can be adjusted as needed.

Enabling stapling for your Canon printer

On a Mac

  1. Click Apple  and choose System Preferences.
  2. Click Printers and Scanners.
  3. Select the Canon printer you would like to enable stapling on.
  4. Click the Options & Supplies button.
  5. Click the Options tab.
  6. Change the Output Options dropdown box from “None” to “Staple Finisher”, then click OK.
  7. Close the System Preferences window.

On a Windows PC

  1. Open your installed printers by clicking Start Image result for windows 10 start button icon transparentImage Removed and typing "device"
    • For Windows 7: Press Enter or click on Devices and Printers.
    • For Windows 10: Press Enter or click on Printers & scanners, then scroll down and click the Devices and Printers link
  2. Right-click your Canon printer and choose Printer Properties.
  3. Click the Device Settings tab.
  4. Under Finishing Settings, check the box next to Staple.
    • Note: You can also choose Eco (Staple-free) to staple by crimping page corners.

Changing duplex options on a Mac


  1. Open the file you would like to print and choose Print from the application menus.
    • If printing from Google Chrome, also click Print using system dialog.
  2. When the Print dialog appears, select your Canon printer.
  3. Click the Layout dropdown in the middle of the window and select Finishing.
    • If you don't see a Layout dropdown box, click the Show Details button.
  4. Change the Staple dropdown box from Off to On.
    • Note: You can also choose On (Eco (Staple-free)) to staple by crimping page corners.
  5. Click Print.

On a Windows PC

  1. Open the file you would like to print and choose Print from the application menus.
    • If printing from Google Chrome, also click Print using system dialog.
  2. When the Print dialog appears, select your Canon printer.
  3. Click the Preferences button.
  4. On the Basic Settings tab, change the Staple/Collate/Group dropdown to Staple.
  5. Click Print
