MI 113 Richardson Auditorium is a teaching and event space located on the first floor of Morse-Ingersoll Hall.  Instructional Technology in this space includes a fully integrated a/v system with an automated projection screen, rear-wall mounted HD projector, front wall-mounted speakers and an a/v presentation lectern housing a computer, Blu-Ray player, and connections for laptops, HD video devices, and multiple microphones.

The information below documents how to accomplish common tasks using the a/v equipment in the room.

1. If the touchscreen A/V Control Panel is dark, hold your finger on the surface of the panel for a few seconds to wake the system.
   1. If the above does not “wake” the system, press the power button located on the top-right corner of the A/V Control Panel.

1. Remove the HDMI cable from the Drawer 2 in the podium rack.
2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port in the cable cubby, and the other to the HDMI port on your laptop or HD device.
   1. Mac laptops, mobile devices and some PCs will require a display adapter.
3. Press the Podium HDMI button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to activate the system.
4. Use the  Volume Arrows on the right side of the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to adjust the audio level as needed. 
   1. To ensure the system is getting a strong enough audio signal, make sure that the volume on your laptop is turned up to maximum. 

1. Remove the laptop VGA cable from Drawer 2 in the podium rack.
2. Connect one end of laptop VGA cable from the VGA port in the cable cubby, and the other end to the VGA port on your laptop.
1. Mac laptops and mobile devices will require a display adapter (example below).
2. IT Support maintains a small stock of adapters for Mac laptops that can be reserved for classes or events by calling x2067 or emailing itsupport@beloit.edu.
3. Connect one end of the 3.5mm audio cable to the 3.5mm audio port in the cable cubby, and the other to the headphone port on your laptop.
4. Press the Podium VGA button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to activate the system.
5. Use the  Volume Arrows on the right side of the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to adjust the audio level as needed. 
1. To ensure the system is getting a strong enough audio signal, make sure that the volume on your laptop is turned up to maximum. 

1. Boot up the Rack PC by pressing the  Power button in the center of the unit.
2. Press the Rack PC menu button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to activate the system.
3. Use the  Volume Arrows on the right side of the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to adjust the audio level as needed. 
1. To ensure the system is getting a strong enough audio signal, make sure that the volume on the Rack PC is turned up to maximum. 

1. Press the Blu-Ray button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to activate the system.
2. Press the  Eject button on the Blu-Ray player and insert your disc.
3. Use the Blu-Ray player controls on the touchscreen menu to control the playback of the disc.
1. The Blu-Ray remote is in Drawer 1 if needed.
4. Use the  Volume Arrows on the right side of the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to adjust the audio level as needed. 
1. To ensure the system is getting a strong enough audio signal, make sure that the volume on the Rack PC is turned up to maximum. 

1. Remove the Shure podium microphone from Drawer 1 and connect it to XLR audio port on the top right of the podium.  The microphone will click into place when fully connected.
2. Push the base of the microphone through the rubber grommet until it is firmly seated. 
   1. The rubber grommet is an isolation shockmount that will prevent any noise from the podium from traveling through the microphone.
3. Press the Microphones menu button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to access the Microphone controls.
4. The controls for the podium microphone are on the far left of the Microphones sub-menu.
5. Press the red Mute button to unmute the Podium microphone.
6. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons for the Podium Mic located above and below the dial image to adjust the audio level as needed. 
7. When you are done using the microphone, remember to Mute the mic, disconnect it, and return it to Drawer 1.

In addition to the podium microphone connection, there are three additional microphone inputs on the front of the rack.  Additional mics and mic cables are not provided with the system, but can be checked-out from IT Support in Mayer Hall during normal business hours.

1. Connect microphones to any of the labeled microphone ports on the front of the rack.
2. Press the Microphones button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to access the Microphones sub-menu controls.
3. Microphone controls on the menu correspond to each of the labeled microphone inputs.
4. Press the red Mute button to unmute the desired microphone.
5. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on each microphone channel to adjust the volume to the desired level. 
6. When you are done using the microphones, remember to Mute the mic channels.

When you are finished with the system, please remember to shut it down.

1. Press the Shutdown button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel.
2. Press the Yes, Shutdown button to confirm the shutdown.
   1. Note: Once you confirm the shutdown, the system will do into cool-down mode and it will take about 4 minutes before it can be turned on again.
