Overview


Bunge Theatre is a small black box theater, teaching space, and performance venue located on the first floor of the Neese Performing Arts Complex.  Technology in this space includes an a/v system with a manual projection screen, HD projector, mounted speakers and an a/v rack housing a computer, Blu-Ray player.  There are connections at the front of the room for laptops, HD video devices, and microphone.  There are connections at the a/v rack for laptops, HD video devices, analog video devices and a microphone.

The information below documents how to accomplish common tasks using the a/v equipment in the room.

Technology

Manual projection screen, HD projector, mounted speakers and an a/v rack housing a computer, Blu-Ray player.  There are connections at the front and rear crow's nest for laptops, HD video devices, and microphone.
Special Notes:
  • No food or drink permitted.
  • Notify Security x2355 for access on evenings and weekends.


Connect and control


The Bunge Theatre a/v system has multiple options to connect devices and control the a/v system.


Connect:

There are two a/v connections panels in Bunge Theatre:

  • South wall - houses connections for HDMI, VGA + 3.5mm audio, and XLR.
  • A/V rack - houses connections for HDMI, VGA + 3.5mm audio, XLR, and stereo RCA.


Control:

There are three a/v control options in Bunge Theatre.  All control panels sync with the controller, so any of these options can be used simultaneously.

  • South wall - wall-mounted touchscreen.
  • A/V rack - tabletop touchscreen located atop the a/v rack.
  • TDMS iPad with Crestron app - for wireless control throughout Bunge Theatre.  Please see the Theatre department technical director for more details.

Project using HDMI


  1. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the a/v rack or the front connections panel and to the HDMI port on your laptop or HD device.
  2. Press the HDMI source button on one of the touchscreen Crestron touchscreen control panels that corresponds with the port you are plugged into, either Rack HDMI or Front HDMI/VGA, to activate the system.
  3. Use the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the control screen to adjust the audio level as desired. 
  4. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown.

Project using VGA


  1. Connect the VGA cable to the a/v rack or the front connections panel, then connect the other end to the VGA port on your laptop.
  2. If audio is needed, connect the 3.5mm audio cable to the corresponding port on the connections panel and the other end to the headphone port on your laptop.
  3. Press the Rack VGA or Front VGA button on the Crestron touchscreen controller to activate the system.
  4. Use the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to adjust the audio level as needed.
  5. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown.

Project from the built-in Blu-Ray player


The a/v rack contains a built-in Blu-Ray player capable of playing audio CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs.

  1. Press the Blu-Ray source button on one of the touchscreen control panels to activate the system.

  2. Press the Open/Close button on the Blu-Ray menu and insert your disc, then press the Open/Close button on the Blu-Ray menu to close the tray and launch the disc.

  3. Use the Blu-Ray player controls on the touchscreen menu to control the playback of the disc.

  4. Use the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the touchscreen control panel to adjust the audio level as needed.

  5. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown.

Connect and project from an analog video device


  1. Using the composite RCA cable from the rack drawer, connect the audio and video outputs of the video device to the color-coded ports on the rack connections panel.
    • Yellow = Video
    • Red = Audio right channel
    • White = Audio left channel
  2. Press the Rack Composite source button on one of the Crestron touchscreen controllers to activate the system.
  3. Turn the video device ON using the Power button on the unit.
  4. Video playback must be controlled on the device.
  5. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- buttons on the Crestron touchscreen controller.
  6. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown.

Rack Composite a/v inputs


Connect and control microphones


  1. Use the XLR cable from the rack drawer to connect a microphone to an XLR audio port on the either the rack or front connections panels.
  2. Press the Microphones menu button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to access the Microphone controls.
  3. There are two microphone volume controls in this sub-menu, one for a microphone connected to the rack XLR input and one for a microphone connected to the front XLR input.
    • If you are not using one of the XLR inputs, we recommend leaving that channel muted.
  4. Press the red Mute button to unmute the desired microphone.
  5. Use the Volume +/- buttons to adjust the audio level as needed for each microphone channel. 
    • If you need to access the Main Menu, press the Return button in the upper right corner of the Crestron touchscreen controller.
  6. When you are done using the microphones, remember to Mute the mic channels that you were using to prevent unwanted feedback and then disconnect the mic.
  7. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown. 

Note: Multiple microphones can be used with the system by plugging the microphones into a mixer, and then plugging the mixer output into the XLR input on the a/v rack.  Max volume can then be set on the Crestron touchscreen controller and then adjusted on the mixer.
