Smart Reply is a Gmail feature that shows suggested replies when available. It is turned on by default.  Follow the steps given below to disable Smart Reply.  

  1. Open Gmail and click on the Settings (gear) icon> Settings.
  2. Navigate to the section titled Smart Reply.
  3. Toggle the radio button to Smart Reply off.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and Save Changes.

    Smart Reply will now be disabled. It can be turned on at any time.
