The Wood Lab is an interdisciplinary teaching computer lab located on the second floor of Mayer Hall.  Instructional technology available in this space includes an integrated A/V system with a ceiling-mounted projector, wall-mounted speakers and manual projection screen, a Blu-Ray player, and connections for a laptop.

Software applications installed on the workstations in Wood Lab include:

• Adobe Creative Cloud Full Suite

• ArcGIS Pro

• Audacity

• DaVinci Resolve

• jGRASP

• SPSS

The information below documents how to accomplish common tasks with the a/v equipment in the room.

1. Flip the touchscreen controller up and then connect one of the video cables (VGA or HDMI) from the cable cubby to the corresponding port on your laptop/device.

   • If you need to be away from the a/v cabinet, there is also a long cable on the hook on the left side of the podium that may be used to connect to the laptop/device.

   • For audio with VGA, plug the 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone/audio out port on your laptop/device.

2. Press the On button on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system and turn on the projector.

3. Select the source that you have the laptop plugged into - either VGA or HDMI.

   • Each source has two locations.  The Lectern location is the podium-top cable cubby, and the Aux location relates to the cable tether on the hook on the left side of the podium.

   • Once selected, the active source button will change to white.

4. Additional controls:

   • Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- and Mute buttons on the right side of the control screen.

   • Video Mute will shutter (blackout) the projector without turning it off.

5. When finished using the equipment, please press the Off button and then press the Yes button on the confirmation screen to shut down the a/v system. 

Note: Blu-Ray players are compatible with all Blu-Ray discs, DVDs, and audio CDs.

1. Press the On button on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system and turn on the projector.

2. Press the Blu-Ray source button.

   • Once selected, the active source button will change to white.

3. Press the Open/Close button to eject the tray and insert your disc, then press the Open/Close button again to close the disc tray and launch the disc.

4. Use the directional pad and play controls on the Blu-Ray menu to navigate and control the disc.

5. Additional controls:

   • Press the Menu button to access the disc menu.

   • Video Mute will shutter (blackout) the projector without turning it off.

   • Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume and Mute control on the right side of the control screen.

6. When you are finished using the equipment:

   • Press the Open/Close button to remove the disc, then press the Open/Close button again to close the disc tray.

   • Press the Back to Main Menu button.

   • Press the projector Off button and then press the Yes button on the confirmation screen to shut down the a/v system. 

1. Press the On button on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system and turn on the projector.

2. Using a Stereo RCA cable, connect the output of the DVD/VCR (on the back of the player) to the RCA input ports on the front of the a/v cabinet. 

   • Yellow = Video

   • Red = Audio right channel

   • White = Audio left channel

3. Press the DVD/VCR source button.

   • Once selected, the active source button will change to white.

4. Press the Power button on the DVD/VCR to turn it ON.

5. Insert your VHS tape or DVD into the appropriate slot/tray on the player.

6. Use the DVD/VCR remote control to navigate and control the tape or disc.

7. Additional controls:

   • Video Mute will shutter (blackout) the projector without turning it off.

   • Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume and Mute control on the right side of the control screen.

8. When you are finished using the equipment:

   • Press the Back to Main Menu button on the touchscreen controller.

   • Press the projector Off button and then press the Yes button on the confirmation screen to shut down the a/v system. 

   • Press the Power button on the DVD/VCR to turn it OFF.

   • Disconnect the RCA cables from the a/v rack and the DVD/VCR.

   • Return the DVD/VCR to the appropriate storage area.
