Resetting Passwords on a Mac

Step by step instructions for resetting a forgotten password on an individual (faculty, staff, or student worker) Mac computer.


Resetting a Forgotten Password

If you are already logged into your Mac:

  1. Click the Jamf Connect menu (Beloit “B” icon at the top of the screen near the clock).

  2. Click Reset password…

  3. Enter your username and click Next.

  4. Answer your security questions to sign in.

  5. Click Change password. Complete additional security questions if prompted.

  6. Enter and verify your new password.

  7. Click Done.

  8. Enter your previous Mac login password if you remember it, or contact LITS Support for assistance resetting it.

 

If you cannot log into your Mac:

  1. On another device, visit login.beloit.edu.

  2. Click the Reset password link.

  3. Enter your username and click Next.

  4. Answer your security questions to sign in.

  5. Click Change password. Complete additional security questions if prompted.

  6. Enter and verify your new password.

  7. On your Mac, click the Local login button on the log in window.

  8. Enter your username and old password if you remember it, or contact LITS Support for assistance resetting it.

 

IMPORTANT

Your Mac will continue to use your old password until it syncs with the network. After logging in and connecting to the internet, this will happen automatically within one hour. Otherwise, you can log out of your Mac and log in to sync your password immediately.

 

Remember to update the password on your other devices; attempts to log in with an outdated password can lock you out of your account. If this happens, contact LITS for assistance.
