Zoom is designed to facilitate meetings and two-way communication between individuals and groups, but some situations may require sharing a meeting with a large number of participants. You may also want to broadcast a meeting for viewers without interruption. There are several options for these situations.

Zoom default meeting limitations

Whether you’re Beloit College faculty, staff, or student, you can sign in to Zoom with a free account by visiting zoom.us or by downloading the Zoom app, then click the Sign in with Google button, and sign in with your Beloit account. By default, with a free Zoom account, you can host a meeting with the following limitations:

  • Meetings can last up to 40 minutes

  • Up to 100 participants can join the meeting

LITS can also upgrade your account to a “Licensed” or “Pro” account (email support@beloit.edu to request a Pro account) which upgrades meeting limitations to the following:

  • Meeting length is unlimited (Zoom’s technical limit is 24 hours for one meeting)

  • Up to 300 participants can join the meeting

  • No labels
