Due to a component failure in the a/v system, only basic projection is currently available in this space. If you have questions or need help finding another suitable venue for your event, please contact LITS Support for assistance.

The Hendricks Center 132 Film Classroom is a teaching and event space located on the first floor of the Hendricks Center for the Arts.  Technology available in this space includes a ceilinga ceiling-mounted HD projector, manual wall-mounted projection screen, surround sound wall-mounted speakers, a/v lectern with touchwith touch-screen a/v controller, two Blu-Ray players, region-free DVD/VCR, connections for laptop and audio.

Projecting from a laptop


  1. Connect the laptop VGA cable or the HDMI cable on the top of the podium to the corresponding port on your laptop (or other mobile video device)

  2. For audio with VGA, plug the 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone/audio out port on your laptop.

  3. Press the Beloit College Seal on the touchscreen Extron a/v controller (podium or wall-mounted) to activate the room a/v system.

  4. Once the system is up, select the source that you have the laptop plugged into - either VGA or HDMI.

  5. Press the Power button to boot up the laptop.

  6. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom

of 
  1. of the Extron controller.

  2. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller. 

Note: It is possible to run two video devices simultaneously using the Split Screen function of the a/v system.

Projecting from a built-in Blu-Ray player


  1. Press the Beloit College Seal on the touchscreen Extron a/v controller (podium or wall-mounted) to activate the room a/v system.

  2. Once the system is up, select the source that you

have
  1. would like to use - either Blu-Ray 1 or Blu-Ray 2.

  2. Turn the corresponding Blu-Ray player ON using the Power button on the top left of the unit or by pressing the Power button on the Extron touchscreen controller.

  3. Press the Open/Close button on the top right of the player or on the Extron controller to eject the tray and insert your Blu-Ray or DVD.

  4. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom

of 
  1. of the Extron controller.

  2. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller.

Note: It is possible to run two video devices simultaneously using the Split Screen function of the a/v system.

Projecting from the built-in DVD/VCR

  2. Once the system is up, select the source that you

  2. Turn the DVD/VCR ON using the Power button on the lower left of the unit or by pressing the Power button on the Extron touchscreen controller.

  3. If using a DVD, press the Open/Close button on the lower left of the player or on the Extron controller to eject the tray and insert your DVD.  If using VHS, simply insert your tape into the VHS slot on the player.

  4. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom

of 
  1. of the Extron controller.

  2. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller.

Connecting and projecting from an analog video device


  1. Connect the audio and video outputs of the video device to the color-coded Video, Audio L, and Audio R ports on the connections panel using a stereo RCA cable.

  2. Press the Beloit College Seal on the touchscreen Extron a/v controller (podium or wall-mounted) to activate the room a/v system.

  3. When the Source Selection menu appears, select the AUX source.

  4. Turn the video device ON using the Power button on the unit.

  5. Video playback must be controlled on the device.

  6. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom

of 
  1. of the Extron controller.

  2. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller.

Connecting and projecting from an HD video device


  1. Connect the audio and video outputs of the video device to the color-coded Video, Audio L, and Audio R ports on the connections panel using a stereo RCA cable.

Split screen projection


The Extron a/v control system in this space allows an instructor to project from two different connected video sources simultaneously in side-by-side projection using the Split Screen menu and preconfigured screen layout controls. 

  1. Press the Beloit College Seal on the touchscreen Extron a/v controller (podium or wall-mounted) to activate the room a/v system.

  2. Once the system is up, connect your video devices and/or insert your discs/tapes into the built-in players.

  3. Power ON the video devices or players that you will be using.

  4. When the Source Selection menu appears, select the first device from which you want to display the video.

  5. Once the video is displayed, press the Split Screen button on the bottom left of the control screen.

  6. The first device you selected will appear as Window 1.

  7. To add the second video source, press the Window 2 button at the top of the screen, and then select the source for the second video feed.

    • The active Window will be highlighted in teal, while the inactive Window will appear in gray.

  8. You can select a different video source for either window by selecting the window, and then selecting a different source.

  9. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom of

 the
  1. the Extron controller.

    • Audio will only play from the active window.

  2. Windows can be flipped by pressing the Swap button.

  3. To exit Split Screen, press the Full-Screen button.

    • The active window will be full-screened.

  4. The default layout for the two screens is side-by-side.  The Presets button will take you to a submenu with additional preconfigured split-screen layouts.

  5. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller.

Connection and playback from an audio device


  1. Connect the headphone output of the audio player to the 3.5mm audio port in the connections cubby using a 3.5mm stereo audio cable.

  2. Press the Beloit College Seal on the touchscreen Extron a/v controller (podium or wall-mounted) to activate the room a/v system.

  3. When the Source Selection menu appears, press the iPod button on the upper left side of the Extron controller.

  4. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume knob at the bottom

of 
  1. of the Extron controller.

    • Turn the volume on the iPod to maximum to ensure that the system is getting the strongest possible audio signal.

  2. Control the audio playback using the controls on the iPod.

  3. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron controller.

System shutdown and room readiness standards


The information below details how to shutdown shut down the a/v equipment and return the room to ready condition for classes.

When you are finished using the a/v equipment:

  1. Eject any tapes or discs that were used in the Blu-Ray players or DVD/VCR.

  2. If external devices (laptop or video player) were used, please coil the cables neatly on top of the podium, or return them to the podium’s drawer.

  3. Return all remote controls to the podium drawer.

  4. Press the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the screen on the Extron touchscreen controller.

  5. Press the Yes button to confirm the system shutdown.

  6. When the Beloit College Seal appears on the touchscreen controller, the system shutdown has completed.
