Overview
Canon multifunction printer/copiers on campus support finishing options, including stapling, which can be selected when copying documents or when printing from a PC. This option must first be enabled before it can be selected during printing.

Enabling stapling for your Canon printer
On a Mac
- Click Apple and choose System Preferences.
- Click Printers and Scanners.
- Select the Canon printer you would like to enable stapling on.
- Click the Options & Supplies button.
- Click the Options tab.
- Change the Output Options dropdown box from “None” to “Staple Finisher”, then click OK.
- Close the System Preferences window.
On a Windows PC
- Open your installed printers by clicking Start and typing "device"
- For Windows 7: Press Enter or click on Devices and Printers.
- For Windows 10: Press Enter or click on Printers & scanners, then scroll down and click the Devices and Printers link
- Right-click your Canon printer and choose Printer Properties.
- Click the Device Settings tab.
- Under Finishing Settings, check the box next to Staple.
- Note: You can also choose Eco (Staple-free) to staple by crimping page corners.
Selecting stapling as a finishing option when printing
On a Mac
- Open the file you would like to print and choose Print from the application menus.
- If printing from Google Chrome, also click Print using system dialog.
- When the Print dialog appears, select your Canon printer.
- Click the Layout dropdown in the middle of the window and select Finishing.
- If you don't see a Layout dropdown box, click the Show Details button.
- Change the Staple dropdown box from Off to On.
- Note: You can also choose On (Eco (Staple-free)) to staple by crimping page corners.
- Click Print.
On a Windows PC
- Open the file you would like to print and choose Print from the application menus.
- If printing from Google Chrome, also click Print using system dialog.
- When the Print dialog appears, select your Canon printer.
- Click the Preferences button.
- On the Basic Settings tab, change the Staple/Collate/Group dropdown to Staple + Collate or Staple + Group.
- Click Print.
