Overview


MI 113 Richardson Auditorium is a teaching and event space located on the first floor of Morse-Ingersoll Hall.  Instructional Technology in this space includes a fully integrated a/v system with an automated projection screen, rear-wall mounted HD projector, front wall-mounted speakers and an a/v presentation lectern housing a computer, Blu-Ray player, and connections for laptops, HD video devices, and multiple microphones.

Project from a laptop using HDMI


  1. Connect the HDMI cable from the cable cubby to the corresponding port on your laptop/device.
  2. Press the Podium HDMI button on the touchscreen Crestron controller to activate the a/v system.
    • Once a source is selected, the projector will power-up and the screen will lower automatically.
  3. Press the Power button to boot up the laptop/device.
  4. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the controller.
  5. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then Yes confirm to shutdown the a/v system.

Project from a laptop using VGA


  1. Connect the VGA cable from the cable cubby to the corresponding port on your laptop.
  2. If you need audio, connect the 3.5mm audio cable to the headphone port on your laptop.
  3. Press the Podium VGA button on the touchscreen Crestron controller to activate the a/v system.
    • Once a source is selected, the projector will power-up and the screen will lower automatically.
  4. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the controller.
  5. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then Yes confirm to shutdown the a/v system.

Project the built-in computer


  1. Press the Rack PC button on the touchscreen Crestron controller to activate the a/v system.
    • Once a source is selected, the projector will power-up and the screen will lower automatically.
  2. Press the Power button on the front of the rack PC.
  3. Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- buttons on the right side of the controller.
  4. When you are finished using the equipment, please press the Shutdown button and then Yes confirm to shutdown the a/v system.


A/V rack PC



Project from built-in Blu-Ray player


  1. Press the Blu-Ray button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to activate the system.
    • Once a source is selected, the projector will power-up and the screen will lower automatically.
  2. Press the Eject button on the Blu-Ray player (to the right of the disc tray) to open the tray and insert your disc, then press the Eject button again to close the disc tray and launch the disc.
  3. Navigation, menu and playback controls:
    • Use the Directional Pad and Playback Controls on the Blu-Ray menu to navigate and control the disc content.
    • Use the Menu button to access disc features and menus.
    • Audio level can be adjusted using the Volume +/- and Mute control on the right side of the control screen.
  4. When you are finished using the equipment:
    • Press the Eject button to remove the disc, then press the Eject button again to close the disc tray.
    • Press the projector Shutdown button and then press the Yes button on the confirmation screen to shutdown the a/v system.

Projecting the built-in document camera


  1. Press the Doc Cam button on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system.
    • Once a source is selected, the projector will power-up and the screen will lower automatically.
  2. Lift the the camera arm for the doc cam up and to the right.
  3. Press the Power button on the document camera.
    • The LED ring on the on the power button will glow BLUE when the doc cam is On.
    • The LED ring on the power button will glow RED when the doc cam is Off.
  4. Be sure that the HDMI light is active.  If it is not, then press the Source button on the document camera until the HDMI light is active.
  5. To control the image:
    • If needed, there is an LED light in the camera head that can be activate with the Light button on the document camera controls.
    • Camera zoom can be controlled using the Zoom +/- buttons on the document camera.
    • Focus can adjusted using the Focus AF button on the document camera.
    • The camera image brightness or darkness can be adjusted using the Brighten Image or Darken Image buttons on the document camera.
  6. When you are finished using the equipment:
    • Press the Power button on the document camera to turn it off.
    • Collapse the camera arm back into the body of the document camera.
    • Press the projector Shutdown button and then press the Yes button on the confirmation screen to shutdown the a/v system.

Using the podium microphone


  1. Remove the Shure podium microphone from Drawer 1 in the a/v rack and connect it to XLR audio port on the top right of the podium.  The microphone will click into place when properly connected.
  2. Gently push the base of the microphone into the rubber grommet until it is firmly seated. 
    • The rubber grommet is an isolation shock-mount that will prevent any noise from the podium from traveling through the microphone.
  3. Press the Microphones menu button on the touchscreen A/V Control Panel to access the Microphone controls.
  4. The controls for the podium microphone are on the far left of the Microphones sub-menu.
  5. Press the Red Mute button to unmute the Podium microphone.
  6. Use the Volume +/- buttons for the Podium Mic located above and below the dial image to adjust the audio level as needed. 
  7. When you are done using the microphone:
    • Press Mute button to silence the mic channel.
    • Disconnect the microphone and return it to Drawer 1 of the a/v rack.

Using a multiple microphones


In addition to the podium-top microphone connection, there are three additional microphone inputs on the front of the rack.  Additional mics and mic cables are not provided with the system, but can be checked-out from BITS Support in Mayer Hall.

  1. Connect microphones to any of the labeled microphone ports on the front of the rack.
  2. Press the Microphones button on the touchscreen Crestron controller to access the Microphones sub-menu controls.
  3. Microphone controls on the menu correspond to each of the labeled microphone inputs.
  4. Press the Red Mute button to unmute the desired microphone.
  5. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons on each microphone channel to adjust the volume to the desired level. 
  6. When you are done using the microphones:
    • Press each Mute button to silence the mic channels.
    • Return the microphones and cables to the appropriate storage area.
