SC 150 Porter-Brown Auditorium


SC 150 Porter-Brown Auditorium is a teaching and event space located on the first floor of the Sanger Center for the Sciences. Instructional technology available in this space includes a touchscreen a/v controller, two ceiling-mounted data/video projectors, electric screens, a ceiling-mounted document camera, ceiling and wall-mounted speakers, a wireless microphone system, an assistive listening system, connections for laptop, audio and analog video player.  

 

The a/v system controls are laid out from the instructor's perspective.  Please keep this in mind when selecting projectors, screens, and sources from the a/v system menus.  See the annotated photo in the room notes for directional queues.

 

The information below documents how to accomplish common tasks with the a/v equipment in the room.

Fixed tables with power and data ports, chairs, two instructor tables, 18ft multi-track whiteboard system.

Technology

Projecting from a single laptop onto both screens


  1. Connect one of the laptop VGA cables on the instructor’s tables to the VGA port on your laptop.

    • For audio with VGA, plug the 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone/audio out port on your laptop.

  2. Press the Beloit College wordmark on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system.

  3. Press the Power button to boot up the laptop.

  4. Press the Laptop source button on the upper left side of the touchscreen menu.

  5. Choose which laptop connection you will be projecting from, Laptop Left or Laptop Right

  6. Press the Send to Both Projs. button.

  7. Additional controls:

    • If you need audio, you will need to press the Send to Audio button to activate the system speakers.

    • Audio level can be adjusted using the PGM+/- physical buttons on the left side of the Crestron controller.

    • To access the main menu screen, press the Return button in the lower right corner of the Laptop menu screen.

  8. When you are finished using the equipment, press the Return button, and then the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the main menu screen on the Crestron controller. 

 



Projecting from a single laptop onto one screen


  1. Connect one of the laptop VGA cables on the instructor’s tables to the VGA port on your laptop.

Projecting from two laptops

  5. Select the source for the first laptop, Laptop Left or Laptop Right

  6. Determine which screen you want to project onto, and then press the corresponding Projector Left or Projector Right button.

  7. Select the source for the second laptop, Laptop Left or Laptop Right

  8. Determine which screen you want to project onto, and then press the corresponding Projector Left or Projector Right button.

  9. Additional controls:

    • If you need audio, you will need to press the Send to Audio button to activate the system speakers.

    • Audio level can be adjusted using the PGM+/- physical buttons on the left side of the Crestron controller.

    • To access the main menu screen, press the Return button in the lower right corner of the Laptop menu screen.

  10. When you are finished using the equipment, press the Return button, and then the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the main menu screen on the Crestron controller. 

 



Projecting from the built-in document camera


  1. Press the Beloit College wordmark on the touchscreen Crestron a/v controller to activate the room a/v system.

  2. Press the Doc Cam source button on the left side of the touchscreen menu.

  3. Determine which screen(s) you want to project onto, and then press the corresponding Projector Left, Projector Right or Send to Both Projs button.

  4. Image controls:

    • Press the Auto Focus button to force the camera to automatically acquire focus.

    • Use the Zoom +/- and Focus +/- controls to frame and focus the document or object under the document camera.

    • To access the main menu screen, press the Return button in the lower right corner of the Document Camera menu screen.

  5. When you are finished using the equipment, press the Return button, and then the Shutdown button on the lower right side of the main menu screen on the Crestron controller.
